The Happiness Mindset

News and Today's Updates

Nairobi, 28th June, 2011
I moved this section of my first post here, as I learn to develop my blog I am going to cut and paste - shift things around - and make it easier for you, my reader, to find the information you want and need.

Browse these links, below, to do some research of your own on the hows and whys of attaining happiness:

Is it more important to be psychologically happy or to be realistic and aware of your conditions and the conditions of your environment, before you choose your approach to happiness?  Surely if your happiness is short-lived it could indicate that you may not be totally realistic about yourself and your environment?  Does realism imply being self-centred and fearful of human nature?  Is human nature around you self-centred or compassionate, altruistic and giving?  Or does one have to think about a happy balance between the two, for example 5 on a spectrum between being self-centred and totally self-sacrificing?  What is the value of sacrifice, if any?

Is your MP and are your senior politicians happy because they are realistic or also because their form of realism only determines the extent to which they are willing to compromise their own comfort - where on the scale of 1 to 10 are they in their vaunted aims to serve you?

27th June, 2011: Some things to be aware of

Looked at critically, however, the duty free maize programme has also reopened a fresh battlefront in the never ending face-off between proponents of organic agriculture and backers of the multibillion-shilling global genetic engineering industry. (from www.allAfrica.com which you'll find in the above link)
Will the USA control the extent to which we convert to the use of genetically modified maize?  What are the approaches we can use to restore our independence in this part of the world?

THE KENYAN JUDICIARY -
SEEMS THAT IT MAY HAVE AN UPHILL TASK VETTING OUT CORRUPTION
What are the judges in the Kenyan judiciary jittery about?  Now that the appointment of the Chief Justice is a done deed, and he and his deputy appear to be determined to set new standards in the judiciary's ability to meet the challenges of the new rules for a Supreme Court, will the new set-up succeed?  Read about The Judiciary Jitters here

Questions for your comments

How would you propose to vet the judiciary and where would you source your new magistrates?

How would you compare the standards of some of the older junior magistrates (the corrupt ones who are in cahoots with the corrupt sectors of the police department) with the standards of some ordinary Kenyan business people, professors in universities, chiefs who rule in their respective domains (like Parklands or Kangemi)?

Could ordinary people have better standards than a corrupt judiciary?
Might it be a good policy to place youthful magistrates at the lowest rungs of the judiciary and, if so, what support systems would you, as an ordinary citizen, advise the authorities to institute, to enable these energetic young people to better understand the problems of ordinary people and how they ought to be treated, how fast rulings should be made and imposed, etc, and to do this with a breadth of vision?

Or would it be better to look for people who are older, more mature and who have eschewed corruption over the decades to take their place in the leadership of society?

Is it true that the environment is a primary force in the quality of relationships between people?

How does the policy of divide and rule cause people to find themselves in court when they might otherwise be able to have their differences arbitrated in a less expensive and more productive and quick manner outside the court system?

Is the court system along western lines one that is compatible with our African-ness?  Advantages?  Disadvantages?

19th June, 2011 - A meeting with our FLP upline at Eastern Cuisine

Hello, friends:

We have now been involved in getting set to develop our FLP Aloe Vera for about a week now.

During that time I researched some websites on Google where I learned about oheithers who have given several testimonies on their use of the products.  Here are some links (I have to repair the links on previous posts, too, so please bear with me):
I am still looking for something negative about this product range FLP and will let you know if I find something juicy (but it looks unlikely).

Today we went to Eastern Cuisine in Kirima House on 5th Avenue Parklands opposite the Aga Khan Sports Ground.  I recommend this place.  I had targeted my crazy aunt, Shery, my mother Shirin, Parvis the teacher and Sadru Jamal as possibles for my marketing plan.  I got a hold of my upline, Beldina, who brought her mother, Kasema to treat us to a presentation of FLP, which they did.  We ordered bhajias and chai and, as usual, Zinat Lalji's food has got a touch of class - it is rich with taste and lined in understated perfection.  The Maru Bhajias were polished off with tea.

The upshot of this is that all my targets are very likely to join me in the project of being purveyors of health and wealth through our company, Forever Living Products of Scottsdale, Arizona.  I am looking forward to hearing from you to give me the opportunity to guide you on what I have learned so far:

FLP is an ethical company with integrity that now serves 146 countries with a combined turnover of USD.2.65bn.  It is the fourth largest network marketing organisation in the world but it is the only one with a presence in Africa.  Wherever it goes it plants infrastructure institutionally in order to exponentially raise the value of the state in which they invest.  This creates unparallelled...

...confidence in the state, raising its value and enabling parents to generate and bequeath this value to their children.

Our upline's name is Beldina and she brought her mother, Kasema, to give us the presentation.  It is not easy here to put into words what Mama Beldina conveyed to us but if I were to attempt to word it in a nutshell I should say that she is talking about a new world and a new way to negotiate that world with help of technology and high standards.  Using FLP Aloe Vera is about eradicating disease and fear of disease and spreading the word about it is, in effect, spreading the paradigm of enabling others to set aside their struggle and join the company in its mission to eradicate poverty without compromising on standards, on integrity and on ethics.
